New Sponsors: Orca & Ryders Eyewear

Just a little update as I have a couple of new partnerships to announce for 2012.
I have signed up with Orca Australia (www.orca.com.au) as my wetsuit and race apparel for the year. I have racing in a 3.8 Orca wetsuit the past year and have had some of my best swim results to date. Their Orca Hydrokilla Swimskin is not only striking in appearance but is lightweight with minimal drag for all non-wetsuit swims, being WTC approved. I look forward to donning on their 226 race kit for my upcoming long distance races.

Ryders Eyewear (www.ryderseyewear.com.au) will also join me on my journey with their fabulous eyewear range. From their interchangeable sporting sunglasses, polarized lenses offering 100% UV protection as well as their fashionable lifestyle range, eye protection and style will be covered for the year.

Thank-you for both coming on board and I look forward to not only racing hard and fast but looking good too!

Happy Happy 2012!

With some very mild peer pressure I really relaxed and enjoyed my Christmas and New Year’s. Our squad’s Chrissy party quickly went downhill after some bocci on the beach and a few beers, we ended up back at our place where the drinks kept following, music was blaring and our living room turned into a full blown rave party. I still managed to get couple solid sessions done the following day (Chrissy eve) but it made for a subdued family Christmas day. Back to the grind Boxing Day and only a week later we were back at it. With my favourite champagne on special I once again succumb to the festivities. I was expecting a chilled out BBQ and our guest to be home by 10pm but that was not to be. After warming up with backyard cricket, an introduction to the game ‘beer pong’, a BBQ and more drinks once again the music was cranking and the rave party jumping. I saw midnight but not much more as it was way past my ‘nanna’ bed time. I really needed to see off 2011 and welcome in 2012 with a smile on my face, my health and around the people who I think will make my New Year one to remember. The next day was a struggle to get through and a good indication that the drinking will be no more for the next three months.
Now that we are into 2012 an update on what’s planned for the year. The first part of my season will see me working towards my first Ironman, which will be Taupo, NZ with a couple smaller races before it to sharpen up. The first week of 2012 has quite possibly been one of the toughest back ends of a week I’ve ever done. Every bike and run session has seemed to be upwards…. I don’t want to ride or run up another hill right now and am thoroughly enjoying my recovery day on the floor, in front of the fan, legs up and no plans right now of moving. In saying that I can’t complain about the direction in which I’m heading. Hanging on for dear life during a couple of bike sessions this week, annihilating myself during a brick set and directing some unexplained ‘emo’ anger towards swimming with some positive results. If I survive the next 7 weeks I’ll be more than ready for my IM debut.
At this stage I’d like to thank Enervit (DeGrandi) & Mizuno Australia for their ongoing support for the upcoming 2012 season. I’ll keep you posted on my return to Goondiwindi’s Hell of the West, my first 5150 in Sri Lanka and then the big one! Exciting times ahead in 2012.
